Amazon’s Kindle 3 has caught everyone’s attention. There two models available : the Kindle 3G ( 3G + WiFi ) and the Kindle WiFi only .
What is the difference between Kindle 3G and WiFi?
The 3G version includes 2 colour options : graphite and white. The WiFi is available in Graphite only. Also, the 3G gives you mobile connectivity anywhere you are and access in over 100 states. The WiFi allows access to the web or the Kindle store, only when you’re near a WiFi hotspot.
Nevertheless the WiFi has a major advantage : its cost. It available at the ridiculously low price of $139, meaning that it’s fifty bucks less expensive than the 3G and it offers about the same features.

PDF files can be viewed at their actual size or with a zoom of 150%, 200% and 300%. You can also simply adjust the file to the width of the screen. The contrast may also be altered for a better reading experience.
You can set bookmarks, highlights, keep notes, and search the text ( the search function is not possible in PDFs, because they are scanned as images ). There are 2 in-built dictionaries for American and British English.
You’ve got the ability to change the font size and type, the length of the lines and the characters, but you can not use your own font types unless you unlock the machine.
You may use the free applications supplied by Amazon to read the ebooks at your P.C, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, BlackBerry, Android mobile and tablet Personal computer by syncing the bookmarks and notes to your Kindle ( it requires Net connection ).
Instead of a page number, there are locations. You can browse through the table of contents, the transition to location, the return to prior location and obviously, you may use the buttons for the next and prior page that are on both sides of the gizmo.
Kindle is available in graphite and white, with the same technical traits.
The warranty is for 1 year. The extended warranty is for 2 years, but only applies to the US.

With this device you get the USB cable needed to connect to a PC, but you do not get any case for the gadget. But it isn’t very safe to carry the kit unguarded. Another drawback is that the charger that comes with the device does not support the voltage in Europe. Therefore if you live in Europe you’ll have to charge the device only thru your personal computer ( fortunately the battery lasts for about a month ). You may also decide to buy an adapter for Western european sockets from Amazon at an exceedingly low cost.
