Reuters reports Amazon is preparing a front-lit Kindle for July release. Geek.com explains -- since e-ink displays don't let light pass through, a front-lit display is the only way to build a light source into an e-reader. Barnes & Noble is already using the tech in its Nook Simple Touch. It was inevitable, says Computerworld. Incorporating a light is a no-brainer solution. **"An illuminated screen resolves one of the biggest shortcomings of today's Kindle eReaders: Reading in dark environments, such as in bed at night, requires an external light source. A bedside lamp will do, of course, and several vendors sell aftermarket lights that clip onto the Kindle.
